That might be it, we both have cheapish motherboards and another problem is the RAM max frequency is 1333, we both have 8gb of RAM. Both RAM and VRAM, but system RAM would be my focus if you get stuttering (not consistently low FPS).
That's going to be extremely bulky if they aren't careful.Īnyway long story short, have a look at memory usage.
I especially shudder to think of what lies ahead since Microsoft developers said to a reporter around the time when Windows 7 was released that they had already been working on a 128bit OS. If Google can do it, a newcomer to the OS game, Microsoft should be able to. That's a dicey proposition if they continue to scale Windows 11, 12 or whatever other versions they have planned ahead in this manner.
If you have double that amount of memory, Windows could theoretically take up double for itself, etc.
If you have 6GB, it generally uses 2GB, even though it could actually get by on 1GB since the real hard working software elements needed to run a video game are Direct X and the game engine itself. One of the only mjaor problems I have with Windows as an OS is that the recent versions of it (Vista, 7, 8, 10) have used more RAM for itself depending on how much you have. I know it's the memory based on the active usage statistics from the task manager. I've been running on 6GB and I can get a periodic stutter here and there if I have a giant fleet of patrol cars chasing somebody. The only stuttering (not lag) I see plausible would result from script commands dealing with multiple AI cop cars and AI cop pedestrians when using up a lot of RAM. If that's not the case then it must be a plugin, LSPDFR or RPH.
Both the GPU and CPU don't achieve their full usage again, GPU around 60% and the CPU around 75%. With one of my friend's computers (GTX 970 - i7 2600k frames still drop but never go below 30 frames in the CPU intensive situations. This indicates that the i7 3770 is not fast enough to keep up in highly populated situations. Both GPU and CPU don't achieve their full usage full stop, they both hover around 60% usage. With my PC (R9 390 - i7 3770 3.9Ghz), frames drop to around 20-30 when 2 or more police vehicles are in a chase regardless of the settings. I've tested LSPDFR in two of my friend's computers. The extra 500mhz is nice, but nothing an overclock of a 3770 wouldn't fix, if you consider it a problem with today's game demands at all, especially considering TurboBoost brings the 3770 up to 3.9GHZ anyway in certain scenarios.īoth 970 and 390 are capable of nearly maxing out GTAV at 1080p. All Intel i7 processors have been more of the same for several generations in a row now, save for the occasional half a thousand dollar six core CPUs that don't yield any real performance difference to merit the extra money spent. Ivy Bridge), and the 6700 has identical clock speed and number of cores unless you spring for the 500mhz increased clock speed model, just a couple of different software features and support for DDR4 memory, and perhaps more cache than some models (not the 3770, however) as far as I can tell. Out of curiosity, may I ask why you think the CPU is bottle-necking you and why you think the other two models you suggested would be better? An i7 2600 runs off of an older architecture than the 3770 (Sandy Bridge vs. Please note that there are different sockets and different motherboards will need to be purchased. An i7 6700/k is the most preferable option. I would suggest at least an i7 2600/k or better. I have an i7 3770 and it still bottlenecks my R9 390 in CPU intensive situations. Your CPU/Motherboard must also be replaced. I currently have the R9 390 and it doesn't perform as well as the 970 as GTAV is run on the DX11 API. That being said if you are going to go for a higher end card and want to exclusively play GTAV, I would suggest an nVidia card. In addition to the power supply I would recommend at LEAST a graphics card with the power being equal or greater than a GTX 660 ti or R9 270.
If you want a decent 1080p 60fps experience then you will need to upgrade your power supply to at least a tier 2 or tier 3. So what needs updating/replacing and how much work needs done?
So I need to update it but not sure what needs to be done to make sure I'm running GTA V on high settings with graphics enhancers/ENB's and plenty of modifications. Been involved in GTA IV for years and haven't gotten into GTAV b/c of my computer not being good enough. Hope it's not too much of a 'nooby' question bus basically.
